Divinity eSports began in late of 2022 as a way for a friend to force his other friends to take his money to go to majors. In a wholesome kind of way that shaped the foundation for Divinity....forcing people to take our money and get good. However this mentality drove the owner to broke with inconsistent ways of making money and the owner's hospitalization forcing Divinity to close its doors not even a year into its lifespan. Now towards the end of 2024 Divinity comes back with a new mindset, still wanting to force our friends to be the best they can...however not pushing us to broke. The best way to do that of course is to make more than we spend! Divinity is back and as an LLC no less with plans to take the eSports scene by storm producing some of the best and most creative players the world has seen!
After the closure of Divinity there was not a lot of note to talk about. EHard, the team's owner, stepped away from the Smash Ultimate community for the most part for other games with more a more eSport friendly environment. Though, this soon would be the fuel for EHard to return to the community with the desire to make Smash one of those environments. EHard has a few things planned for Divinity and just asks for time to get it all done
Divinity has the following plans throughout its lifespan and briefly how it plans to accomplish each:
In its first year Divinity wishes to recruit 3 players and get them each to a major rated Smash Ultimate event
This can be accomplished easily as long as we pace ourselves with the number of players Divinity sponsors and figuring out truly how the sponsorship will work. There are ideas that are being toyed with and a few favorites.
By Divinity's 2nd year of operation we plan to recruit another 3 players, expand into a second game (either League of Legends, Rivals II, or Valorant), and establish connections with at least 2 other brands as partners.
While Divinity has roots in SSBU we ultimately (heh) plan to branch out into other games developing a community and a team in each. It could be tricky at first getting into a new community it shouldn't be impossible however.
By the 3rd year of operation Divinity wishes to expand again into another game and start a startup eSports fund for the purpose of helping other teams come up and start similar to how Divinity did.
This is the magnum opus of Divinity and what I hope it'll all be worth doing. Starting up especially in the Smash community there is not a lot of resources to help out. Not to mention skeptical eyes all around when something new starts up. Divinity hopes this program, when we get there, will help some people out there who may have the same ideas as Divinity but just need that little bit extra to get truly rolling.
Signing off this first of many articles about Divinity. Here's to a promising first year of Divinity!
